Minhyun eventually let his hand reach for the television remote and press the on button, letting a music show start before him, hands rested comfortably behind his head — until he realised what he had forgotten from his room. With a sigh, he stood and headed back to the presence of his not-so-chatty hyung, quickly grabbing his headphones and a cap, as a sort of disguise… almost. With a sigh, he sat on his bed again, taking his book from his bag and setting it back on his shelf before emptying the now heavier than usual contents of his pockets into the back, slinging it onto his shoulder before standing once more.

The brunette placed his backpack on the edge of the sofa, going to the kitchen and grabbing two bottles of water just in case they needed it, quickly storing them in his bag. Looking up at the clock, he puffed his cheeks out and decided to wash their dishes from earlier — managing to finish the job in a mere 10 minutes. The tall boy was considering asking if the other hadn’t managed to kill himself while getting ready; that wasn’t impossible.

With a small sigh, he returned to his bag and the TV, arms, once again, behind his head as he allowed himself to relax, just as the blonde stepped out. “Black.” he nodded, thinking it suited his style better for the day. “Are you ready?” he asked hopefully, a smile making its way to his lips as he stood, immediately turning the television on and grabbing his bag, making sure he had the keys to the dorm just in case the others decided to leave later on, too.

The hat gave Ren an idea and silently, he raised a finger to signal that he needed a moment, moving out of the living room and back to his own. He selected a dark colored beanie from the pile, adjusting it perfectly atop his head. If only he had thought of wearing a hat early he could have somewhat cheated with his hair. The blonde looked himself over in the mirror one full time before deciding that he was fit to go out in public. He wasn’t sure if the hat did much to help him ‘blend in’ or hide his identity, but it did look stylish, that alone was enough for him to approve it. Minki the fashionista.  As for the sky colored sweater, he  still wasn’t sure if the brunette was suggesting the black for lack of better words or sincerely picking the black because he favored it more then the pale blue; this once, he wouldn’t question it. He liked the black one better anyway.

He returned back to the older’s side,  the indecisiveness that once plagued his features were gone, in its place, a simple smile. He was feeling much more awake now thanks to the constant pacing around the room looking for something to wear. “I’m ready,” he began, giving Minhyun a light push. “ He took it upon himself to open the door, having become rather eager to get out at this point.

"First things first; we look for a street vendor.” He decided, the smile widening.  His thinking was that the would eat first, later washing down the food with the tea. He always enjoyed eating  food from the vendors— especially the meat dishes. The food was all so delicious, and border line creative when the meat was placed on the stick and allowed the blonde to hold it without getting his hands dirty. There was something else about the stick creations whether it was meat or fruit stabbed by the wooden sticks they always seemed to gain an extra glance from the blonde. It was odd how similar yet different Seoul food was to that of his hometown.

Once outside, he’d squint his eyes from the bright mid morning sun. He lingered close to the taller’s side, drifting into thought. The weather was cool, as cool as the first week of Autumn could be. The leaves had already began darkening to a somber orange, memories of green vanishing.  "Hyung, did you make sure to bring your wallet?“ He finally said, gaze shifting impishly over to the brunette.

Minhyun didn’t bother asking about what the book reminded the other, he’d rather not find out, in all honesty. With a sigh, he deciding on re reading the pages again later, when everyone else was asleep so there was no chance of him being disturbed. He had to admit, older book were his favourite. The musky smell they admitted and the idea that the person who had written it was most likely in another life now… It gave him a sort of jolt of excitement.

The taller ended up watching the other as he ate, happy that the other was enjoying his cooking. It was a relief, if anything. “I figured that was the reason.” he smirked, patting the others head as he sat down again, hugging his book to his chest as he watched, hoping no one else would wake up and expect food, his cheek puffed out as he looked at the bedroom doors, hearing a shower turn on — making him sigh again.

“Just like old times.” he grinned and nodded, glad the other was agreeing to it. “Great!” he said, placing his book on the kitchen counter top and standing. “I’m gonna go get dressed, and make sure everyone else is still alive.” he said, leaving the company of the other and heading back into his bedroom, to find Aron sitting on his bed and messing with his phone. “Morning, hyung!” he smiled, finding his clothes and quickly changing. Aron nodded his head as a reply, obviously texting one of his sisters. Minhyun swiftly left the room and the other, not finding much conversation in him. Once he left the bedroom, he sat on the couch, waiting for the other.

Ren left after Minhyun, going into his own room to dress. The task was not so easy for the blonde, upon opening his closet there were choices beyond choices. He wasn’t entirely sure what ind of style he was going to go for today which meant he’d take even longer than he normally did to get ready. He spent ten minutes just deciding on what kind of jeans to wear, another ten deciding on whether to wear long sleeves or short sleeves and  one more finding a short sleeved shirt and a comfortable pair of shoes to wear. With that done he could move on to accessories.

Now the blonde walked into the bathroom, makeup palette in hand as he hummed the tune to a song he heard the other day on the radio. EXO’s What is Love. The song was quite dated but it still possessed a humble charm. He finger combed his locks of hair every which way, using a fine toothed comb to sweep his hair to the side. In the end he decided to simply keep it down. Lost in thought as he carefully lined around his eyes he had forgotten that Minhyun was waiting for him out in the living room.  He was taking so long.

He applied the last bit of gloss on his lips before leaving the bathroom, putting  both palette and iPad into his bag. The blonde sighed contently, heading for the door before stopping midway because of the chill  that entered the room through the window. It was early fall, the weather was not as warm as before, infact, it was anything but warm. The other day had been really chilly. He went back to the closet and took two sweaters from the hangers, a black one and a white one. Glancing at the clock on his way out he finally noticed that his decisions had taken a while. Sheepishly, he entered the living room, stopping when in front of the darker haired.

“Which one?” He inquired with a tilt of his head, holding the two sweaters arme length apart.

The pale blonde scrolled through the contacts in his phone, every so often he looked up from his device towards the large clear doors viewing everyone who entered the mall. He would have liked to wait outside, but everyone outside was moving.  He didn’t want to cause unwanted attention by being both alone and standing in one place. It was the last thing he needed. Besides there was a lot of people with that came a high risk of being pushed or shoved. It would have been nearly impossible to spot a friend in such a  tight crowd. Speaking of friends, where was his?

Oddly enough, the blonde arrived about 10 minutes earlier than he should have. He was intent on both seeing and shopping with his friend. Silently, he wondered what type of clothing Kai would go for. He was always curious about other people’s taste when it came to fashion.

His gaze followed the young couples as they entered and left the mall, exchanging giggles, hugs and innocent touches that had gone unnoticed. Interestingly enough many of the girls were hands free, the males holding the ‘girly’ pastel colored bags for them. He lowered his head back towards his phone, pressing his lips together.

His fingers toyed subconsciously at his bracelet, humming the tune to Growl.  He was far too eager for his own good. After a while longer without receiving a text, his brows knitted up with worry and he began typing.

[Text sent: 1:18pm]imageJongiiiiin hyung~,  don’t tell me you’ve gotten lost.

In an after thought he typed a few more words.

A smile creased his lips as it always did whenever he messaged the other male. This made the wait just that much more entertaining.  Quickly though, impatient little Minki began pursing his lips, crossing and uncrossing his legs over and over. His eyes shone in  a mix of both temporary boredom and grave anticipation. A terrible combination.

Minhyun quickly made the food, wanting to get back to his own as soon as possible. As he plated it up, he took a glance back at the sleepy blonde, eyes widening marginally. “Yah!” he whined, knowing his page had been lost, a frown gracing his lips. “Be careful, Minki…” the taller pouted, bringing the food over and taking the book, trying to recall which page he had been reading previously — his eyebrows knitting together as he did so.

He sighed, giving up with searching as he placed the book down, sliding back onto his chair and digging in to his food again, pushing his hair back, the strands keeping on falling into his eyes and making him annoyed. Minhyun turned to the other, chewing as he spoke. “Why are you up so early?” he asked the younger, knowing that whenever they had a free day, he was usually the last one awake. Minhyun was beginning to get annoyed that he had woken up so early, now.

Once the food on his plate had been cleared, he stood and took his dish to the sink, placing it in to wash up later, returning to the other with a soft yawn — leaning on the counter and poking his book with a slight pout, thinking about what he could do. “Wanna go out and get bubble tea or something? We haven’t done that in a few months.” he smiled. When they were trainees, going out for bubble tea and to eat street food was a sort of ‘weekly tradition’. One of the few ‘traditions’ that he had really missed.

“This reminds me of—” He began, but didn’t have enough time to finish as the book disappeared out of his hands, the thought leaving with it. He leaned back against the chair observing Minhyun’s expression. He looked  a little upset. Minki didn’t notice that while skimming he had turned a page or two too much and caused the page to be lost. Instead of asking, he simply assumed the angst in the book had affected the older. Silently he wondered if the older would fall into a fit of tears.

He picked up his utensils and began to eat, capturing the first pieces of bacon before digging into the eggs. The food was delicious. He made the right choice getting out of bed early. “I smelled you cooking.”  Was all he could manage, his cheeks stuffed with food.  It was ridiculous really and if he could, he would have laughed at his own antics. He had to swallow twice to get it all down and brought a napkin to his lips to clean his mouth if needed. Behind the napkin he licked  his lips. “Very tasty.” It was a simple meal but the food was well cooked- especially the meat portion. The thin bacon was crispy in all the right places and the eggs- they were sticky in the sense that they stuck together and allowed him to easily scoop it into his mouth.

Sounds of satisfaction left him and he soon found himself with a clean plate.  He brought the plate to the sink, placing it directly in the sink. "Like… old times?“ His eyes moved to the taller and he flashed a smile. "I’d like that.” He accepted the invitation with a nod of his head  and a tiny smile. He enjoyed hanging out with Minhyun. It had been awhile since the two hung out alone and honestly, no matter how many times he’d  neglect to show affection or blatantly ignore the other,  he truly did desire to strengthen their bond. This was the perfect opportunity. Admiration is what he felt for the older, though these days he  felt as if he hadn’t shown it often enough. “Ah, MinHyunnie, can we go for street food too?”

minhyunxscc:

Minhyun eventually crossed his legs at the table. An old book in his hand, the spine being creased even more thanks to this thumb staying between the two open pages, to keep the book open as he read, chewing on a bit of bacon, the end of it sticking out of his mouth as he read, his chews getting slower as he immersed himself even more. Usually, he’d hear when another member was up because they’re bedroom doors would usually make a noise, but not today.

He almost threw his book into the air when he heard Minki’s voice — lanky body almost falling off of the chair, too. “Yah.” he whined, calming his currently racing heartbeat down, letting out a soft sigh. Now came guilt. “Ah… I didn’t think anyone would be up for another couple of hours.” he admitted, checking his watch. It was barely even 9:30 by now. He looked up at the other, who’s eyes still looked tired. “I’ll cook some more.” he offered, heading over to the counter again.

Without the other protesting, he began to make more eggs and bacon, in the same pans, mind fixated on getting everything timed right — even putting two slices of toast in the toaster, and grabbing a plate from the cabinet above him, setting it down on the side with a smile, completely forgetting that the other was there as he cooked.

Ren’s eyes followed him curiously throughout the room betraying no real emotion. Before he could urge the other boy to make food for him, the dark haired seemed to read his mind and started to prepare the food. He couldn’t say he was completely satisfied with the explanation, but he was more than grateful that the older would cook something up for him too. He shouldn’t have expected anything less of the reliable Minhyun. He walked towards the table, slumping down into a seat opposite of the one the other previously sat at. Again he began stretching his legs and then his arms. “Ah, Minhyun… I’m so tired.”

He exhaled deeply, tucking pieces of his bangs behind his ear. Interlaced fingers now resting in his lap as he leaned back and absently watched the older’s movements. He couldn’t help but note how easily the other moved around the kitchen, easily and skillful.   “I don’t want to stay in today.” He whined aloud to no one in particular. The blonde had developed quite a distaste towards staying in the dorm all day when free.  At the very least, he’d go out once— be it to go for a walk or to get a breath of fresh air.

He pursed his lips as he pondered and from the corner of his eye, he noticed the book. He raised a brow at the book, always being curious as to what interested the other members. He leaned over the table, taking the book in hand before plopping back down in his seat. He quickly flicked through some of the pages- not even reading the title nor the brief intro at the beginning. He skimmed over a few pages, making faces at some of the wording.

udon-minhyun:

Minhyun backed his head away from the others touch, scrunching his nose up in the process. “Am not. It’s called curiosity.” he frowned, poking the youngers cheek with a pout. He noticed Minki combing his hair, making him raise an eyebrow.

Minhyun thought for a while about who this person may be, his eyes looking up as he thought, gaze catching the television — but not paying much attention to it at all. “On the television?” he wondered, “What shows? What’s his name? Minki, tell me~” he whined, tugging on the youngers arm. “Maybe I can help you get with him-“

Ren couldn’t help but find humor in the older’s prodding. Usually, the questioning would have made him nervous, but in this event it made him anything but. There was something about knowing something someone else didn’t… He let there be silence between them to allow him to process the interrogation thoroughly. It appeared that Minhyun had put a gender on said person already, without even asking the blonde. Honestly, he didn’t know how to feel about that. He lifted  a pale hand, securing the other’s hand in his own.

Semi disappointed, he let out a long drawn out, “Umma…” to tease the other. His expression rose then dropped just as easily. Though. there was a hint of another emotion on his face. He looked towards the television, disinterest filling his eyes, he returned his attention back to Minhyun. “I don’t want to say too much…” He admitted in a soft cluster of words.

“You really would help me, wouldn’t you?” He knew clear as day that the boy in front of him was being sincere. He just wanted to confirm it— to hear it be said aloud.

Minhyun smirked softly as he shook his head, “So now you’re going to ignore me, huh?” he asked, index finger reaching out to poke the blonde’s cheek gently, his eyes on the head on his lap as he spoke, fake pout taking place.

Although, his smile was still evident. “Hey, I told you mine. It’s only fair if you tell me about yours.” he grinned, “What kind of talents?” he asked, curiosity definitely getting the best of him as his thoughts increased, wanting to know who their maknae liked. He noticed the fidgeting, and that made him have to hold back a chuckle at the youngers almost cute act.

Ren caught the poking hand, half dismissing it. He brought his fingers over the bridge of Minhyun’s nose, squeezing gently. “You're so nosy…” Now aware of the smile on his face, his lips tugged downwards then into a thin line. The blonde brought a hand up to loosely finger comb his bangs, debating on whether or not  to pin them back.

Feeling pressured he sighed. He didn’t want to reveal too much about the person he liked, he preferred for it to stay private for now.  He decided that he could get away with revealing somethings to prevent the older from nagging him to death. “They’re an amazing dancer.” His gaze met Minhyun’s  silently wondering if he hadn’t said enough. “You might have seen them before… on the television.”

“No they’re not…” he shook his head, poking the blonde’s forehead as he spoke. “Is that even possible?” he asked, only being able to flick between listening to minki, and watching the television. “Ah. Alright.” he nodded, smiling.

“I am not.” he huffed, crossing his arms. He knew he had nice standards. That’s was something he knew couldn’t be too outrageous. Minhyun watched the other as he thought, the picture of the person wedged into his brain. “Who was your last crush?” he asked curiously.

Ren swatted the hand simply refusing to answer the other question. He looked towards the tv, his interest in the movie unusually lacking. Most likely because the two were actively speaking during it, making it hard for the blonde to focus and appreciate the scene.

“You are. Its nothing to be embarrassed about.” He lifted his hand, pinching the material of his clothing in thought. “Aw, come on… I said I didn’t want to talk about it.” He tried to laugh it off, but knew that it was only fair to return the favor. “Uhm. Well, they have dark hair, a very attractive personality, talent, and a certain charm.” Unaware that he was now smiling, he began to feel his fingers along the shirts’ material.

Minhyun blinked when the other turned to look at him, surprised he wasn’t as interested in the movie anymore. He sighed, puffing his cheeks out slightly, feeling a little pressured from the others gaze.

“Crushes are fun, you’re right. But I want to know what it’s like to be in love for once…” he mumbled, leaning back and sighing once more. “The last person I liked…” he started, humming as he thought. “It was a while ago now.. Maybe a year or two ago?” he said with a shrug, “They were shorter than me… not by much. Dark hair, simple tastes.” he mumbled, “Then there were a bunch of things that I didn’t like that I started to see in them. Constant cussing, they hung out with a bad crowd…” he trailed off. “A-Anyway, aren’t you watching the movie?”

“Everyone’s shorter than you.” He teased, shaking his head. “Don’t worry about me. I can pay attention to both you, and the tv.” He chuckled knowing it was impossible to do both. “I can watch Titanic anytime I want but I don’t when I’ll be able to ask you this again.”

Watching him, his lips tugged upwards.  "Oh, you’re such a goody two shoes.“ A mock groan escaped his lips before he continued, "you have nice standards though, I like that.” He shifted back downwards, trying to picture the person described by the other. By default he imagined a girl, tall with possibly long dark hair. Although the thought of a female cursing excessively would be rather… strange, he decided not to question it.

Minhyun raised an eyebrow at the younger, knowing that he was only barely understanding what he had been saying. With a sigh, he rested back, eyes flickering to the screen, the scene of the couple before his eyes as they spoke, not really sure what to make of it. He had never understood why this was Minki’s favourite movie, surely they’d both rather watch transformers or something.

He watched as the other explained his own feelings towards the subject, letting a soft chuckle escape his lips. Minhyun shook his head at the question, though. “Never… love. More just liking people and ‘crushing’ on them… you know?” he said with a shrug. “What about you?”

Although he began looking at the movie again, the blonde was listening carefully to every word he was saying. So much so, that he missed most of the subtitles onscreen. His interest in the other male’s thought grew. Soon the blonde shifted slowly onto his back to be able to observe him.

Ren’s  attention was now fully fixed on the darker haired male. He had became rather was to hear more. “Oh, Minhyun.~ How cute. Crushes are always fun though, until they wear off…” He made a face, gently biting his lip. “Ah, me? I don’t want to talk about it.” He waved his hand dismissively, “I like hearing your story more.
