► Of Bubble Tea and Street Food || MinhyunxRen
Minhyun almost let a sigh of relief leave him at the idea that they could finally leave the confinements of their dorm, happy that he could just relax for a day - one that seemed to take forever to come. When the other actually began pushing him, he was shocked; for lack of better words. Puffing his cheeks out slightly at the others action, after having to wait for him for a good half an hour, he let himself be pushed down the stairs and outside of the building. “Finally.” he mumbled,
But at the next statement, he grinned. Deja vu sort of washing over him as he recalled the number of times the younger had said that when they were trainees. The smells of the street vendors were already reaching his nose, even before they reached the end of the street where a few were located. His mouth beginning to water as he looked over the various rice cakes and meaty treats. It had been too long since he had had street food — and he was regretting it.
“I never leave my wallet in the dorm. Aron likes to ‘borrow’ from me.” he said, ordering two servings of ddeokbokki to start with, handing the money over and waiting for their food to be placed in front of them. “Which Bubble tea shop are we going to? A few places have opened over the years-” he said, spotting one down the same street, the shop managing to somehow take him by surprise, making him blink. “Like that one, for instance.” he said, pointing at it, just as their food was laid out.
An amused sound left the blonde when Aron’s ‘borrowing’ was mentioned. He laughed softly just at the thought of the oldest borrowing money. Aron was always so silly, maybe even more sillier than Ren himself. “Why don’t you fight him?” He was joking of course, the tone of his voice was almost humorous. He disliked it when his things were touched, but when it was someone else's— he’d laughed.
Ren’s eyes followed Minhyun’s to the little tea shop on the corner of the street. Its placement was very convenient and with a single nod of his head he agreed, though there was a quite a bit of hesitation. He had another idea.
“Ah Minhyunnie, wait, wait, ” he bowed his head to the older, taking out his own wallet from his bag and pulling out a bill. "I want to buy something else.“ He gestured loosely towards a plump rice cake, oddly requesting it to be wrapped and bagged. It was an unusual request to make to a street vendor but nevertheless, the vendor complied.
All the talk about Aron reminded Ren about the ever hungry tiger cub in the dorm. He couldn’t help but feel bad that he didn’t even wake the older to tell him they’d be heading out for what he loved most— food. Surely he would have wanted to tag along. As much as he enjoyed hanging out with Baekho, he knew that if the male were to come he’d spend less time interacting with Minhyun. This was the whole point of them going out. Even with this as a reinforcement, he still couldn’t help but feel oh so guilty.
He retrieved the bagged peace offering and whispered a half muted, "thank you” before stepping away. He nibbled at the top of the food, having not eaten it for a while it tasted even more delicious than he remembered. He gave the taller a little nudge. “Mm. How about that bakery over there instead?” With a finger he pointed to a shop a little further down than the other, the closeness of the two businesses probably caused quite a bit of competition.
